FashionistA loves...Zara

For Spring/Summer, Zara has come out trumps at the top of the high street picks and it's fast becoming one of FashionistA's favourite place to shop. We're absolutely loving the soft pastel trends and the multi-coloured pop skinny jeans! There's some amazing stand out pieces including clutch bags and heels that will add new textures and colours to your outfit.

We're getting close to the weekend and hoping it's going to stay as sunny as it has done over the last few days! We're loving piecing together outfits and nails and hoping the sun isn't going anywhere. How are you planning on dressing for Spring? We love to hear what you think and how you are getting inspired by the High Street at the moment!

Those shoes in the bottom left (aren't they beautiful?) have reminded us of how much we love bright nails so we've decided to adorn our nails in the gorgeous polish that is Hot Pink! Following on from our pink picks earlier on our Facebook page, don't you think these nails just look fab with those pastel blue skinny jeans?

Tell us what you think of Zara and any picks you have seen yourself in there recently!

And it was all Yellow...

We're a bit scared of Yellow. It's such a bright colour that we feel definitely takes a lot of guts to carry off. Although it's primarily associated with happiness and joy (well it makes us feel happy anyway) it's very bright and can really portray a bold statement. We were rummaging through Primark's latest collections when we saw this yellow ensemble, entirely from Primark! Wow. Primark to us means messy floors, frenzied buyers and cheap dodgy clothing! But look at that! It's absolutely gorgeous and is very hot for Spring trends. Everyone around you might be wearing pastels but yellow gives you the opportunity to stand out. Our only problem is, we're not 100% confident to wear it fully, especially not how this model is wearing it!

So how do you wear yellow? Help us in our confused and nervous state! We're popping out to the shops tomorrow and will report back with any yellow findings later on - but for now we want to know how you wear yellow or if you even wear yellow at all! Should we rock some yellow or are we getting too carried away with Summer approaching...

Guest Blog: ReallyRee - Get the PPQ Look!

We're putting our blog today in the capable hands of Ree from www.reallyree.com and this is what she had to say:

I was absolutely thrilled to have been asked by fabbie makeup brand FashionistA to go behind the scenes with them for their debut London Fashion Week Project.  And I have to say it really was the most extraordinary experience.

It all started with a meeting with Amy Molyneux and Percy Parker of high end fashion label PPQ, who had chosen FashioninstA as their official makeup partner for London Fashion Week. Exciting!!

FashionistA’s official makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes arrived full of ideas and she and Amy planned out the look for the show. It was seriously amazing to be involved this early on in

the process and to see how ideas evolve.
Amy loved FashionistA's palette system where you can select individual shades and customise your own sleek professional palette. She said that her reaction to them was very "ooooh" and I definitely know what she means!
The next stage was the makeup test the night before the show. Seriously down to the wire! But that is how fashion works, so I pretended to be cool and calm about it!! Not sure I pulled it off as I tend not to do cool and calm very well!!

But Katie was cool and calm so that’s all that mattered... Lots changed in terms of ideas during the session but by the end of it, everyone knew what the models would look like (down to love hearts on their faces and love hearts on their nails) and it was super
exciting!! Makeup and fashion heaven!

And then it was SHOW TIME!! Utterly terrifying!! It was also massively fun and FashionistA’s makeup artist Katie was a total hero. I did my best to get in the middle of the action without annoying anyone too much. I succeeded at the first bit, failed at the second bit, and spent most of my time saying ‘ooops’ and ‘sorryyyyyyyyy!’. Oh well. Considering that it is practically impossible not to get in anyone’s way backstage at London Fashion Week, I wasn’t too hard on myself!
The girls looked stunning in their FashionistA PPQ makeup looks and it was fascinating to watch all the plans come together. PPQ’s Amy and Percy were really happy with the makeup, not surprisingly – it was beautiful.
And then we took out (FRONT ROW) seats (yay) and watched the show! It was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. And I felt super proud to see the FashionistA faces looking uber fierce down the catwalk. Fabulous!
All that was left was some relief, celebration and making the ‘Get the Look’ video. I hope
you love it!! I rocked my FashionistA PPQ look all the way home!

Sequinned collar blouse, and statement nails

We picked up this super cute blouse from H&M a month or so ago (but we have spied it in some larger stores still) and are wearing it with plain black shorts. It can be hard to accessorise up something that is such a statement piece, and you wouldn't really want to pop on loads of chunky jewellery or detailed jewellery so the best way to bring in a little colour and life is in the nails. The obvious choice is always red when wearing black and white, but at FashionistA we like to mix it up a bit. We took our amazing polishes in Jet Set (blue) and Vivid Dream (purple) and simply merged them together on the nail to create this gorgeous merged shimmery look. We then finished the tips with Hidden Treasure! Gorgeous. We think the whole look is very Lana Del Rey...

How do you wear your nails when wearing black and white? Do you like this colour combination?
FashionistA polishes retail at £5 from selected Superdrug stores!

Katy Perry's new look

You'll have had to be blind to have missed the most recent photos of Katy Perry that emerged recently of her dramatic transformation for Interview magazines latest issue. The look she seems to be channeling is quite 40s, quite dramatic but very feminine in a harsh sort of way. It got us at FashionistA thinking, how could we rock this sequinned 40s look too without being too in your face? We really didn't want to be too ott, but we really love a bit of sparkle! So we went about doing a little pre-Friday night shopping to try and find some gorgeous sequinned dresses, or 40's inspired shapes and styles. We popped into Topshop and saw this dress:

We loved this dress because it was rose gold tinted, which means it already channels that old vintage look but keeps it modern at the same time, as this is a huge current trend. We love this dress because it's very modern in style and shape - being a bodycon dress - but still maintains a lot of that vintage style. Of course it's no where near as extravagant as Katy's look, but come on, could we really pull that off as well as her?

We're going to finish our look with a slick of our Gel Eyeliner in Black which we know stays put all night, and will help us finish our 40's inspired cat eye look. Wing the end of the eyeliner out to complete the look and there you have it - a little bit of Katy Perry!

What do you think of this look? Would you be brave and wear a full on sequin dress?
